Temporary Social Security number or the real thing?

?..oh, I’ve just used médecin,

Your MT is the specific one you have registered with CPAM as your GP. You can see any other medécins you like. But it will cost more.

The reimbursement system is straightforward, once you look at the rules.

For every medical act there is a price the social security will pay for it overall, and a percentage of that price that will be reimbursed.

With most things in public medicine the social security price is the same as the actual price - but not all. This is complication 1.

And also for every act there is a franchise of between 0.5€ and 4€ that you have to pay (not your mutuelle). Also a forfait of 1€ for most people who are not ALD.This is complication 2.

So when you look at your Amelia statement it will list exactly what medical acts you have had, and what amount of that it has covered.

Complication 2: But if most of the things you do are tiers payant - ie you hand overcarte vitale and don’t pay anything then your franchise and forfaits will be slowly adding up. Then the next time you actually pay any real money they will deduct all these forfaits/franchise and may not reimburse you a penny. If you never hand over real money you will get a bill at the end of the year.

Complication 1. Some things are actually much more expensive than the price paid by social security. So you think that 70% of that amount will be reimbursed…but no. You will only be reimbursed 70% of the social security price, not the real price. The difference can be rather a lot!

Other small details, but these should make your statement clearer.

Absolutely not true, as confirmed at the last 2 embassy outreach online q and a sessions. As Angela said it is current healthcare arrangements NOT the 31/12 regardless of what many FB groups are apparently being told.
