Terence Stamp - RIP - aging gracefully

Terence Stamp in late life became one of my favourite actors. He aged so gracefully.

He was wonderful in The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert (as they all were)

And Song for Marion was just such a gentle story.

The film The Limey used footage of him from Poor Cow (1965) in a flashback scene of him in his youth. One of the coolest cinematic tricks I’ve ever seen. Fantastic movie BTW.

A friend of mine had a boyfriend who seemed to know everyone [who was anyone] in London. My friend mentioned Terrance Stamp re some production. The b/f said, “Would you like to meet him? Let’s go!”

A taxi-ride later and they are standing, unannounced, outside the door of Terrance Stamp’s apartment in the Atheneam Club, the imposing classical-colonnaded pile on Pall Mall. The door opens.

“Hello Terry! This is my friend Sara! Dying to meet you!”

Sara is, of course, curling up with embarassment.

Stamp, “Get lost, Ian”. Slams the door.

Has he died then? I missed that but wondered why they were going on about him being one of the few people to be twice a guest on Desert Island Discs.

I remembered reading this last year.
