1963 is a lifetime away, but memories linger on.
We were allowed to walk from school into town during the lunch hour… so, my best friend and I trotted off.
We had no idea why there were crowds and lots of screaming and all sorts of chaos. We saw classmates being carried away (similar to this photo).
I recall one Teacher calling… "girls, girls, think of the honour of the school.. "
We simply wandered on .. and a few yards up the road encountered two lads who asked us for directions. Seems they couldn’t find their hotel.
We chatted with them as walked 'em up the street and pointed it out… “it’s just over there, near the Cathedral”.
We were bewildered when they asked if we wanted their autographs but said “yes please” anyway… quick scribbles on the back cover of my Science book and off they went.
When we got back to school we discovered who these lads were and what the fuss was all about… 
I can confirm that John Lennon and Paul McCartney were very polite, well behaved lads.

Wot, no sub to the DT? 
I’m allowed to give up to 10 articles on whatever cheapskate plan I bought, but (a) the article is too long and (b) I can’t work out how to do it, so I’ve sent you two DMs. If anyone else is interested, I can do the same - for another 9!
