Yes, a lovely book… and time to put it in my ‘must read again’ pile. 
Another one from that era is The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. I must put that in the pile as well!

The Alchemist was one of my favourite ‘guide’ books when I was in my 20s (my ‘why do we exist?’ time of life) and I’ve been meaning to read it again now I’m older and, er, wiser (??). Thanks for the link, Wendy - I’m going to check it out now.
