HDMI, and french télé as well, one parabole, two heads.
On the TV there are all sorts of options, this was fine as it was the signal that was saying it didn’t exist, the box and tv were evidently fine. One option will be retune. You bung in your password and it asks for a uk postcode. Well, I don’t have one, so tried a friend’s, twice, no luck. Then the magic question came up on the screen - do you want to try again? Deep breath, I pressed NO. up it came, that I was now ready to receive Freesat, tried the signal, all fine… The first time I did this was when the first Manhattan box I had collapsed and i got another via internet, and did it myself saving a TV guy coming out. If I can do it, you can! Bonne chance.
That’s mainly so it can deliver you the correct regional ITV and BBC programmes. Just put in a postcode associated with a UK place you once lived if you’d like to see that local news. If not, you could always input a central London postcode (W1A 1AA?)
Your are better with W127RJ
Is that the Beeb?
BBC TV Centre
Freesat - Putting in a London postcode (e.g. W1A 1AA) will give you a stronger signal than most regional ones, and may well enable you to get HD with your existing equipment.
As was. Now redeveloped into flats and commercial premises. TVC it ain’t …
Huh?
I’ve used it since iPlayer came out, I just liked the irony of using their own post code.
To be fair, thanks to ITV selling Upper Ground there’s more filmed at Television Centre these days than there has been for a long time! I was there with a client very recently doing the press circuit and it is looking very snazzy these days! The food in the canteen is a damn sight better too, so you’re right it’s not like the old TVC!
It is, undoubtedly, very snazzy these days. But I’m not convinced that snazzy = good
When I used to take artists to do the Saturday morning shows back in the day (More Live & Kicking era than Swap Shop lol) people would return bitten to bejesus from (presumably) fleas or something to the degree that people had to be cajoled in very firm ways to actually get them to go promote their music on one of the biggest platforms out there… so I’m thankful that things have got a bit more snazzy
My time at TVC predates your experience, Kirstea! Fleas would only have gained admittance if they had the correct pass…
Yes, I wish I’d got to experience the place before as, as you’ll know I’m sure, it had some special vibes, but it just became so run down towards the end that it really was a shadow of its former self, from what I understand anyway. At least there’s still studios, and thing’s actually being made there. Plus for those of us who like snazzy, a soho house to buy ridiculously overpriced drinks on a ten grand velvet sofa
BBC1 HD SE does seem to have the the most reliable reception. As I’m so far south, some HD channels can be a bit dodgy. I tried them all late last night, when it started snowing here and SE was all I could get. Haven’t looked at transponder details yet.
£4k for a TV to watch Christmas repeats !!!
No, 4k is the picture resolution, they are going to 8k!
Cost of the set was around £300
Well, it is, indeed, in the middle of the pack at 10847V but none of the BBC channels are on especially high frequencies so it’s likely to be down to the individual installation if you’re in the south with marginal reception.
‘Huh?’ - what’s that supposed to mean? If, of course, you can be bothered to explain with more than just another grunt.
