The grand old Duke of York

Or Charles just, like Andrew and the $$$ settlement, wants to do whatever seems necessary to make this whole sordid episode disappear.

I suspect Charles had had enough of being heckled about it. By the public and William, who clearly wanted it sorted out pdq. I watched the BBC news where the royals were standing outside a church, Andrew is being blatantly cold-shouldered by William.

If that were true you’d want to know when which would then lead onto yet more questions such “why the fook didn’t you do something about it earlier”?

I do wonder whether Andrew Windsor fessed up to his late mother though.

I love the way they seem to think that calling him Windsor is a demotion when that was conjured up to hide the fact that they were really all Battenburgs.

As far as a rabid republican can appreciate a king I have always thought comparatively well of Charlie, especially as he resisted the royal temptation to not sound like a headless monarch, but I don’t think he has done himself any favours here. A far too come lately to the condemnation only to betray his kith and kin. Worst of all worlds imo.

Yes, I know Presidents aren’t all that better unless of course we could have a poet, a bit like that nice little Irish fellow. And they do like their ladies over there. And their accents are so much more enjoyable than anything that comes out of Windsor. :joy:

cue @Roger_Lapin

Historical tweak:

The royal family changed its official surname from Saxe-Coburg & Gotha (which came from Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband) to Windsor during the First World War, when being German was not a popular thing.

At the same time the Battenbergs, who were an offshoot of the royals, changed their surname to Mountbatten (a literal translation), for the same reason.

Prince Philip (who was a Mountbatten) complained that his family name was not going to be represented if his descendants were all called Windsor, so the Queen changed the family name to Mountbatten-Windsor.

That’s how Andrew ends up as Mr. A. Mountbatten Windsor.

I just saw in the Grauniad that some people are suggesting that if Andrew is a commoner now, he could possibly be extradited. They didn’t quote a legal opinion but it’s an interesting thought.

I’m curious as to whether you think he’d get a fair trial?

Would it be a trial or could it be to give evidence to the Senate? Thinking aloud though, maybe they don’t have the power to do that.

Why do you think he wouldn’t get a fair trial?

It’s America and he’s a British ‘royal’ at their mercy. Andrew is already guilty in the eyes of the world, and could go down to carry the can for a number of people who are enormously more wealthy and powerful than the royal family. He’s an older man who is no longer attractive. He did not commit a crime in the UK that we know of, but the US has different laws, and he may well be found to have committed a crime over there based on present knowledge.

It would be surprising that he could get a fair trial here, but out there?

Out of interest, do you think he’s ‘guilty’ and if so, what of?

Of being a total arse?

Edit:

This looks like the description of a total arse to me.

He needs to be compelled to reveal his other shitty pals. If he won’t cooperate then extradite him, though in economy class of course. That’ll be an new experience for him :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s not only the “Virginia Giuffre “problem. She committed suicide, poor thing, and this arse soldiers on :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:. If it was my daughter I’d want him and his associates crucified.

Based on nothing, I suspect Charlie has pulled the plug because MI6 (or whoever) have “advised” there’s even more poopoo coming down the line.

Bring it on, now where are those promised files President Trump.

Seems to be a bit unlucky, Barbara Windsor was another but changed her name to Windsor but suffered or almost abuse as a child.

The only way he could be charged in the US was if the FBI opened up a new investigation and requested he be extradited which is very unlikely.

Never mind the idiot formerly known as prince, or his fuggly wife, what I am concerned about is what will happen to the two late Queen’s corgis that were hijacked by this grasping couple ???

:paw_prints:

Edited after my husband pointed out the former prince will hang on to the dogs because no one else will be keeping him company

British citizens should not be extradited to the USA on principle because the USA will not extradite its own citizens, like the woman who killed the kid on a motorbike because she forgot to drive on the left.

That apart, I don’t see why he, Andrew, would resist giving evidence at a distance if it would help with the truth. Something we are sadly short of at the moment, truth.

Just as in the Simpsons, always blame the foreigner.

There are long lists of names in Epstein’s books and videos, a lot of the rich and spoilt of America, maybe a president or two, let them fix that before off loading all the blame to Andrew.

Well he won’t dare visit the US again either, not that they would allow him in. Seems a lot of football fans are going to find entry difficult next year for the world cup when it comes to applying for their visas and the US already scrutinise FB and other social media sites for anti US stuff.

I am not a football fan, but if I was I would be firmly boycotting the next World Cup, or at least the bits of it that take place in Trumpland.

I think much of the “truth” is already out there but as Corona has alluded to destroying Andrew has taken the heat off the FBI etc from pursuing those way more powerful than him. There will soon become a point though when the authorities will have to act and then the focus will shift away from a 65 year old recluse in Norfolk.

Indeed! It’s easy to forget that much PR work involves keeping the Great and the Good OUT OF the media. And the longer the spotlight remains on Andrew, the easier life is for those hiding in the shade.
