One bottle of 2025’s “Hedgerow Gin” polished off this evening. Made this time last year with sloe, hawthorn, elderberry and rose hips. A notch above the standard sloe gin.

I have heard of him. Much too much electronic equipment for me. I am just straight balls to the wall rock and roll. It’s an age thing! I was at school when Elvis came out. He changed my life forever. I still play many of his songs. I also play harmonica and keyboard. Keep on rockin’

Many years ago I was a licensee in the UK and had a pub that I renamed, “The Cricketers”. I used to sell a Cricketers Gin, which was delicious! Sadly no longer available here in France/UK.

My first good amp was an AC30 top boost, and I sold a motorcycle, aged 18, to buy it. For a nominal 30 watts they were monstrously loud, but also really stiff and dry until the volume went over half way, at which point they were uncomfortable for the audience in a small space like a church hall.
Still have mine 47 years on, but it needs some TLC.
Hats off to you. Son in law is the same albeit 40 years younger but when he gets the urge, it’s off to Gibson for a mooch and some testing. He loves his new to him, second hand 60’s model by the way and has been searching for a decent pedal to match.
We had one in our church hall, too, and a valve PA amp.
Twenty years on, a different church and a green Mesa Boogie which was too loud even for that space.

Try a Digitech RP55 pedal that I have used for years. On pro and semi-pro gigs. Not made anymore, but dirt cheap second hand on e.bay. Loads of programmable patches in it. I have three, just in case. 60’s Gibbo sounds good.

I revisited my teenage years when we used to frequent the local cinemas every single Sunday night regardless of what was showing and the glorious Gordon’s Gin advert with the music that even now I can remember. and done by Jeff Wayne too!One of the best ads ever but never on the TV, only in the cinema. You can find it on Youtube still. Gilbeys I don’t care for, seems wishy washy, LOL predicted text just wrote Giblets

Although not a gin connoisseur, I do agree that the Citadel brand is, to date, my favourite PLUS the bottles are very attractive.
In 2012 we lived in the Dordogne. . We had been in the Dordogne for 3 years and I really wanted to find a job. Im a nurse by training but nursing jobs were few and far between. In the end I admitted defeat and I returned to the UK to work, my husband remained in France. We had a week together every month.
At the time our French house was party central……my weekly shop in Bergerac consisted of food for the week and a large haul of bottles. I also started making ‘stickies’ fruit liqueurs from our fruit trees. Once back in the UK I realised I was drinking a whole lot more than I had before moving to France. I did a ‘dry’ October…that stretched to the present day. 13 years t-total. All of our friends from that time agreed their drinking had hiked up hugely whilst in France. Maybe because we were mostly retired.
I used to do the same when it came to hiding items in supermarkets. Once I remember Lidl stocking ‘American Steaks’ they were amazing…tender and delicious….nothing like the tough meat most places sold. They only stocked them for three weeks and the staff clearly put the items back where they belonged! Oh, I also became vegetarian!
