We’ve visited a few times over the years, never fails to impress. 
I suspect that increasing the price of entrance for Foreign Tourists will be a useful way of helping to pay for the necessary (and very expensive) renovations/repairs.
currently, the Entry is 22 euro except for certain categories who enter for free (on meeting the necessary criteria)
and on certain days, Entry is totally free
I am sure the Free Days will be inundated with visitors from China. They are by no means uninformed

The Free visits have been available for years and even these visits have to be Booked in advance.
Sadly, there are no figures saying which nationalities visit when…
The Louvre is free for all visitors on the first Friday of the month after 6 p.m. (except in July and August) and on 14 July!

The Paris museum pass includes the Louvre. At 70€ for 2 days one has a pick of 50 museums .
Value for money with a bit of planning…
