I’m struggling to see how Natalie Elphicke can possibly be a fit for the Labour Party, now that she has defected from the Conservatives.
She won’t be there long, just like the other bloke a week or so back, she is not standing at the next election.
She doesn’t fit at all. It’s a protest on her behalf against the Sunak leadership and perhaps more about housing policy than the small boats.
Well, yes, but I’m quite uncomfortable that Labour can accept her in, even for a short period. She’s horrid.
Me too, but I think Starmer just wanted to see the expression on Sunak’s face when he saw her sitting behind Starmer at PMQs.
But as David said she is very temporary - she’ll be replaced by a proper Labour candidate when the election comes around.
What some people will do to try and gain a bit of power! If she was honest woth herself after the way the tories behave she would have defected BEFORE the byelection.
Dover is where I can vote…
By Suella Braverman. Proper Starmer values!
Edit. I didn’t mention John Crace is back - hopefully recovered and he is in scintillating good form!
The rats are leaving the sinking ship (as usual)
Nadhim Zahawi will leave after the next election.
Even a rat deserves some dignity, I suppose
There’s a question!
That one deserves prison time for tax evasion. And Elphicke, don’t forget, tried to influence the judge in the case against her crooked husband, jailed ex tory MP Charlie Elphicke. She was so far up Johnson’s backside the stink will last forever. Why on earth would any party welcome such a person?
To stick one to the Tories.
The optics for Sunak are terrible.
Sadly they are not great for Starmer either. He really would have been better off saying “No thanks - Reform is that way”.
Agreed - I assume the temptation to drop one on Sunak from a great height at PMQs was irresistible, but Elphicke is hardly an asset…
Then Starmer should kick her out and show some backbone
Arguably, he’s made a very brave decision knowing that he would get a lot of flak for it. I’m still not keen on it but I can see why he might do it to gain political advantage in the longer term.
Taking on a life long rotten apple? leopards and spots?
Making Sunak look even weaker, perhaps encouraging others to consider whether Labour might be with voting for. I’m with you on how odious she is but I do think that Starmer is very easy to underestimate in terms of his strategy.
The whole series should screened again to wake up the voters to what actually is pretty close to real politicians as Maggie loved it too.
