There is another rush to get back to UK from Croatia and Austria.
The towns of Dubrovnik and Split in Croatia have had very few cases, so anyone going back to one of the northern towns which are currently experiencing problems could find themselves quarantined in a town which has more cases from whence they came.
Alice in wonderland or what?
While I cannot comment about Paris, these days only pass through on route to UK, I assumed Peter was talking about ‘Covid Paris’
However you have shattered my beliefs about french children normally so respectful. Is this behaviour commonplace in France? Maybe I am living a little too sheltered life here.
Fast food, ready made processed food was rarely available when I moved here, a slippery slope to obesity
Sadly it seems the socio-economic divide is becoming more pronounced in France as in other countries. You only have to look at news reports from more deprived areas to see the difference in young people’s life chances, behaviour, and obesity levels.
France has the biggest McDonalds franchise network outside the USA
No it doesn’t, this is one of those ‘factoids’ which is trotted out every so often, snore bore. It is actually Germany which has the most in Europe, in the world the ranking for the top 10 is as follows:
USA
Japan
China
Germany
Canada
France
UK
Brazil
Australia
Russia

How is that assessed I wonder? Simple number of outlets, or per head of population? Or turnover?
if you go by per head of population France goes back to No2 pretty close to Germany at No3 … and really I do not appreciate being called names. I have no problem with disagreements over facts or factoids but try and be polite VERONIQUE
INVESTOPEDIA for franchise numbers and UN for population figures
France is one of the fast growing markets for McDonalds which is surely an indictment of the state of the country’s food tastes.
Where were you called a name?
But I haven’t called you names. I am slightly bewildered now.
Simple number of outlets.
Well having moved to France having retired, not eating out does count as a sacrifice…we’ve worked hard to do just that! Good luck if you can do that and enjoy yourselves.
perhaps being called a snore bore is not an insult in some places and to reiterate the McDoo figures I quote for France are franchise per head of population
I think @Vero meant the oft repeated facts not the person repeating them
It isn’t an insult at all, and certainly not an insult directed at you, ‘snore bore’ is something you can add to the end of a sentence in the same way as you might say ‘ha ha’ or ‘oh no’. It is pretty much the same as ‘that old chestnut’ etc.
Incidentally I have checked - according to McDonalds themselves and their figures for population per outlet (so outlets per capita the other way round) France is 7th in Europe, beaten by Liechtenstein, Austria and Sweden as well as less statistically significant places like Andorra Monaco and Gibraltar. 8, 9 and 10 are Switzerland Uk and Ireland.
I’m amazed the UK is behind France! Seems there is a Maccas (Aussie slang) in every single town in the UK!
The UK has way more takeaways than here - KFC in France 270, UK 900 for example and it’s reckoned that there are around 37000 businesses labelled as takeaways in the UK overall.
I would have thought there are way more than that. It is getting close to that number in the nearby town to where we used to live in UK!
That figure is for 2018 and comes from the Food Standards Agency.
Can it be the are not all labeled like that here
