A proxy war with Russia in Ukraine is always going to cost Western Europe less in blood and treasure than NATO Vs. Russia + Allies fighting WW3 in Poland/Finland/Baltics.
This isn’t about ideology, it’s about having a dictator thinking it’s okay to invade a sovereign neighbour state.
