The resurgence of EDF's Tempo tarif

@SuePJ @toryroo - thankyou ladies - very much appreciated - a great help, and now looking forward to seeing how much reduction I can get with juggling my usage

Just had another thought  as the peak is 6.00 - 22.00 and off peak 22.00 - 6.00, when it says tomorrow is a white day, does that day start at 6.00 tmrw morning and finish at 6.00 the following morning versus being complicated by the actual calendar day, which would mean one calendar day being split between two colours???

We have been cut off since 7.15 last night!! Via a car battery and proper inverter thing we had a lamp until midnight. Hubby has been slowly building up some solar panels and batteries, the panels just leant against the barn and charge batteries up there. Today we have run a cable down and he has unhooked the fuse for the lighting circuit from EDF and put it on the battery power so we have lights and a PowerPoint at least if we don’t come back on. We need lights even in the day though!

No the day is 6am to 6am for tempo

Sorry in your earlier post you said ‘when you are on the app’ so thought you meant you had the app but sounds like you have same as me!

All sounds very creative and great you’ve got a workaround :+1: reminds me to start looking at solar again, as would love to be independent.

To clarify - any 24 hour Tempo period starts at 06.00 & ends at 06.00 the following day.

E.G. A red HP period starts at 06.00 & runs to 22.00, then changes to red HC until 06.00 the next day.

It is therefore possible to have two different colours in one proper day e.g. blue HC from 00.00 to 06.00 (having commenced at 22.00 the previous day), then red HP to 22.00, & then red HC until 00.00 (but, as said, that continues into the next real day until 06.00).

I second the use of the link that @andyw posted above. They are always ahead of the info sent out by EDF.

Sorry Tory, not explaining myself properly. I was talking to @letsmile and really just explaining that once they were signed up to Tempo they would get an email / text at 11am letting them know about red days. I’ve probably used the word “app” incorrectly.
In fact I DO get an email for white days as well - I’ve just noticed one came in this morning about tomorrow which will be a white day.

Ahh maybe texts just for red and email for both. The email goes to hubby and I get the text. All very new for us so still learning!

Very strange - today was meant to be the day I got switched over to Tempo, but when I look at my EDF app and specifically the contract, it still mentions that my contract is Tarif Bleu

So currently wondering if they’ve transferred me or not, and whether if they have, it just takes more time for the online details to be updated to indicate the correct contract.

I’ve just been on to see what we’ve spent over the last few days, particularly with the 24 hour powercut. No information at all on there so probably they are having a glitch / catching up after the cuts or something.

Hoping it’s a glitch, as wanting to take advantage of the blue day tomorrow - lots of ‘stuff’ planned to do  Must say, today it has made me alot more conscious of my power usage, even though it’s a white day and not red. I did receive the mail confirmation of the contract change, so at least that’s reassuring

Ah, just reread the EDF confirmation mail and they mention the remote transfer can take place up to midnight on the planned day, so guess not actually transferred yet - that may also explain it   so looks like first full day will be a blue day - probably good to get into the swing

That is because it still is. Tempo is one of a group of regulated tarifs, under the heading of Tarif Bleu.

Thanks for the clarification @Badger, but below the Tarif Bleu ,on the app contract page, it still mentions ‘BASE’, so guess that’s what I’ll see changing to Tempo once the change has been finalised.

You are correct.

Another red day tomorrow - anyone keeping a tally? I would have thought we’re half way through our 22 days by now. Unusual to be this early, surely?

@SuePJ the site that @andyw previously shared very helpfully shares the red days remaining - currently shows 13 remaining :scream:

Just wondering with the weather if we’ll see a week of red days this week?? Thank the lord no red on the weekend and no red or white on Sundays, and also even on the red days the off peak’s lower cost than the standard tarif, so not too bad really. I have my water pump now turned off so seeing how long the tank of water lasts before having to turn the pump back on
