Sunny but with a cool wind here in Cumbria, still no rain. It’s the longest dry period we’ve had since moving here, all the farm animals are finding it difficult to find decent grass.
Please may I come and stay.

Might pay to buy flour and other grains now if you use a lot of them. I did not realise until recently buying a Harry’s sliced loaf for my toastie maker that they are owned by Barilla the pasta people. It also tastes different too in not a very nice way to previous.
I left my garden shoes outside the door a little while ago and just put them on burning the bottoms of my feet I had to kick them off and they are cloth inside too

Rain! It’s a real Med downpour here, with some hail mixed in. I’m not sure it’s going to last very long but it’s the first real rain for weeks.

There’s rain and lightning south of Carcassonne but nothing here.
I hope you get some later. Our rain only lasted under 10 minutes but it’s still darkish so maybe there’s more.
Woke up to a 16 degree morning, windows open all night and house lovely and cool.
Outside having my third cup of coffee in my sweatshirt and I’m still cold, but loving every minute.

Well, this morning in 17 I can hear and see a brisk breeze rustling through my cherry tree and feel a cool breeze coming in through the window! Just right!
We desperately need some of that down here. Meteo France says it’s due to be mid 30’s all week here and they’ve been consistently underestimating be a few degrees all summer. Its 30C here now at 10am. And just to cheer everyone up, European long range weather forecasting is predicting an extremely cold winter 
Well, I’d got into the habit of opening the windows wide every night during the past heatwaves, but my brain must be a bit dodgy because it stayed in ‘heatwave mode’ last night: as a result, it was 14° in my house this morning

Gorgeous!!! I’ve managed to drop ours from 26 to 24c in the kitchen / living, its tricky as its underground partially and doesn’t have a direct window (yet!).

When I’m preparing supper I have an “arctic cube cooler” on the work surface alongside me. I fill the top with ice cubes, set it on max (noisy, but don’t care) and it helps cool me down and keeps the mosquitoes and flies away.
Marvelous . And I need to buy about 2000 litres of fioul before then…
I was doing the same thing here in Cholet, but this morning I slept in until 05.30. Still got the house down to about 21c, which will be fine. I’m moving to Chars, in the Val d’oise which I think might be a bit cooler, but not like where you are.
Yes, I know. I could have bought it for 1.32/ltr 2 weeks ago, the day the ruckus restarted, but I’m not moved there yet to take delivery.
