We also had a big storm a couple of nights ago. Hardly any rain though 
My mother was terrified of storms and used to hide in the cupboard under the stairs when I was young. I wonder what she did when she wasn’t at home?
I’ve always loved storms, the more thunder and lightning the better, luckily my daughters are all the same. Our poor sweet lab/pointer cross, however, hated them and would tuck herself up in someone’s bed, under the covers, chattering her teeth at every thunderclap.
Walking with our previous dog when he was still very tiny we got caught in a horrendous and unexpected storm in a forest. No waterproofs, skidding down v slippery path, and not entirely sure of our directions, and getting cold with rather loud thunder and lightening. However we sang silly songs and kept our voices as upbeat as we could so as not to indicate that storms were bad things.
It worked, he was never afraid of storms, and we had some huge ones during his life.

I have related before that Jules comes onto my bed when he senses storms, but last night when the distant lightning started I was half asleep when I heard him approach. But I stayed very still, and I heard him go away again instead of coming onto my bed, proving my suspicion that it is me he worries about and my steady unmoving breathing assured him that I was fine. For himself he does not seem worried.

All that stored up energy in each little droplet of water all being released at once, nature is amazing.
Wet weather heading across France next week as I have just been watching a forecast but looks like it going to stay warmer than normal.

Mosquitos haven’t bothered me much for years, but now, in the early evenings with bare arms, I get bitten on a regular basis and the bites itch!
Due to these heat waves/change in weather?
Curiosity - when I write ‘bare arms’ spell-check insists I change it to ‘bear arms’!
Sudocrem is really good at getting rid of the itch - I buy a tiny pot on the internet, lasts ages.
We are being bitten all day, every day and have been for weeks. Elbows, backs of hands, ankles, face some times. I use repellent reluctantly so finish up wearing long trousers tucked into socks and a very lightweight long sleeved white shirt. Tedious!

I am never noticeably caught by mozzies and never see or hear them, despite my 3 static ponds.
But when Marie-Paule visited the other day she swatted what she swore were mozzies. I told her they are not my mozzies but hers, and she must have brought them with her. 
I have noticed though that when I visit them she often swats at them, even though they have no water nearby. Either she is mistaken or I am immune, ie unappetising.

I have a repellent but don’t know I need it until I start itching - too late! I do try to remember to roll down my sleeves but never do until I itch!
Don’t get bitten in bed however. But then, I might, and have recovered before waking up.
In the past when mosquios were in the bedroom I’d hear their high pitched buzzing close to my face, at which point out comes the fly spray!
That is good stuff. I used it on both of my children when they were babies to prevent nappy rash

Yes, I have exceptional hearing and can hear them coming too. Woke up with a big bite on my face this morning but then I did go poking the overgrown part of the garden yesterday and probably disturbed them as there is no stagnant water anywhere so tall weeds seem to be their choice of residence in my place.
Marie-Paule referred to les tigres when I mentioned horse flies as being the worst as far as I was concerned. Mozzies have a fine pointed attack to insert and suck blood whereas horse flies are much less precise and savage in their attacks designed for opening thicker skin that ours.
