I agree Tory I’ve been worried about the weather too. Not right for April. Far too hot for the time of year even in Southern France even though it’s only briefly touched 25 degrees here.
I’ve been crossing my fingers we’re not in for another drought…. Need some rain.
Interesting that there is no hyphen at that point in time, now we do have one!!! I thought it was a weird thing in the book, spell checker or something, but the wiki article is the same.
Our climate has changed without doubt - dry/hot summers (April to September); wet, windy winters (October if we are lucky, November if not to March). Barely any spring or autumn.
Weather! Yesterday was perfect - warm and sunny, blue sky and fluffy white clouds, and dry! Very comfortable after several weeks of damp weather. But today it’s sweltering and humid. The supermarket thermometer was 31°C, and 33 to 36 in the car!
Shall be looking for a wide brimmed hat to keep the sun at bay outdoors, and will be drinking lots of water.
Its lizard land here, have to remember to shut the door as don’t want them indoors again, they sit spying on you from the curtain poles and you can’t catch them for love nor money
I know what you mean Shiba. I caught one yesterday, it came in through the front door then started to run up the stairs. I got it out just in time. In the main room, the full length windows are such that sometimes a lizard manages to climb up the gap between the closed door and the door frame, and then goes to sleep for winter. When the door is opened, usually at the start of summer, the lizard falls from a height of 2m and has us running around with a brush, a box or a bucket. Happy to say that we can usually catch them and throw them out.
@Fleur
Please can you tell me the name of the flower you show by your name??
It looks just like those growing in our wild patch.
Tried Google to identify ours and they offer Love-in-the-mist (Nigella?) but all their pics show a blue flower and ours are white like yours…
If you use rechargeable batteries this is the weather to charge them in. I’ve recharged all mine dotted round the house plus a set of spares for every battery fan I’ve got and it’s taking no more than 1/3rd of the time for them to charge compared to doing it in cold weather.
I didn’t choose anything.. it has just appeared on my wild patch. About 2 flowers last year and loads this year.. but all so pale. I won’t say it outdoors in case I hurt their feelings, but I would really prefer blue flowers
Sadly no sign of last year’s wild carnations… tiny, brightly coloured jewels.. ah well perhaps next year
Most intelligent people would know this but if you are putting washing out in this weather, turn the good stuff inside out or else it will fade badly and very fast. It’s the last thing on most people’s minds when they are busy and have that big pile to wash and dry. I put my stuff outside at night or late evening this time of year and its dry when you get up and the sun still hasn’t got on it.
