We made applications for TdS and have the email acknowledgment and the Confirmation document to wave at whoever asks for it. It includes the words “Ce document n’autorise pas le franchissement des frontières de l’espace Schengen.”
Since then, nothing. She is going to ring the Préfecture today.
Madame is due to visit the UK for 8 days in November, spanning the expiration of the visa.
Am I right in thinking that, even if we don’t manage to get the Cds from the Préfecture in Poitiers, she will still be allowed back in on the basis of the 90/180 days allowance?
I’m sure I’ve recently read that when the Visa runs out, the 90/180 does click in (I remember thinking how useful that will be for some people) … and will try to find the official link
That’s fine as long as has been in France with a visa then that time is not part of the 90/180 visa free days. Returning to France your passport may be stamped, but this doesn’t matter as your visa will override the Schengen period.
Not really relevant for you, but I recently found this which sets out the different types of document one gets given
The Prefecture (Vienne) says there’s a 6-8 month wait for TdS, and the only thing we can do is send an email explaining the position and asking for advice.
I can’t see that being resolved in time, so it looks like we’ll be illegal for a few months. Quite exciting!
as we are saying.. she’ll be fine coming back into France using 90/180, passport stamped (so what) but must then stay within the Schengen borders until the TdS comes through… the “confirmation document” will support/authorise her presence in France so, yes, stop teasing her you rotter…
I was in the same situation, went to the airport with my expired tds and a printout of my situation on ANEF, but was told by the police officer at passport control at Toulouse that I would be likely to have problems trying to re-enter France.
I didn’t take my flight and returned home instead, losing around €500.
I had tried emailing ANEF, but was told to wait. I tried emailing the prefecture as Allo France told me they wouldn’t answer the phone. They said they had passed my email on to services des étrangers who would reply within 5 working days. When they didn’t I emailed again and received the exact same response.
On Friday I went to the prefecture at 9am to try and get an appointment. They told me an appointment was pas possible, but when I explained my problem they passed me to a colleague and within half an hour it was sorted. My application (which had been static since early July) was suddenly approved and I could print out proof from the ANEF site. My card is currently being manufactured.
Bref, get yourself to your prefecture as soon as your current tds expires.
I am British.
I believed that I would be okay to re-enter as a tourist but the police officer thought otherwise. I’ve been told (by Facebook experts) that he was wrong but it’s his job to know and I wasn’t prepared to take the risk.
I’ve just emailed them asking how I can renew my récépissé which expires soon. I was hoping that might spur them into issuing my CdS, so this isn’t reassuring.
