We have a new (half) kitchen - we kept one side - and, as part of it, a new dishwasher, built-in.
I realised it seems to have no display - the only other built-in one I’ve seen had some light arrangement which projected something onto the floor - but it can be wifi-connected
So I have to get an app in order to see when it’s finished the dishes.
I think I’ve worked out one thing: the fitters, who were very careful and tidy, fitted a panel between the bottom of the “door” cover for the dishwasher and the floor … neatly obscuring the light which is red when the machine is on!
I’m still only half an hour into the app setting itself up, so early days yet …
Everything is connected now. We’re renovating two kitchens in Dublin in August and we’ll be swamped with attached devices. Even now our dishwasher and oven here (separate control for top and bottom oven) and one of the chauffe-eaus is.
We have one like that. Set wash cycle and timer then close the door. It has a red light on floor but as it is used at night we never see it. We know when finished because the door opens a little to finish drying process.
Our cheap-as-chips, slimline one we bought at Electro Depot to go in the new house does this. I thought it was going to be something of a gimmick, but it works well in drying everything. The much more expensive Bosch one it replaced didn’t have this feature.
My Brandt does that as well and every time it opens with a beep, I jump out of my skin even though I am expecting it and then it turns the purple light off automatically. I decided I would never have another incorporated dishwasher though after having it that way in the old house, freestanding only now in case of problems and you need to get to the.back and pipes etc. My daughter’s machine is plumbed directly into the sink waste disposal unit in the US and has no filters, seems to be the norm there
We bought a Candy washing machine because it has a larger drum and door, takes a 10kg load, and has a 1400 spin speed. The control dial has 12 different selectable programs which we find more than enough for our purposes.
Additionally, one can select the WiFi program if you have the appropriate App downloaded to your phone.
According to the User Manual, selecting this WiFi position enables the selection of a further 60 programs for doing the laundry. No, that isn’t a typo ---- you really do get an additional sixty settings from which to choose.
Bearing in mind that the 12 programs on the dial are more than enough, why oh why would one wish to have an additional 60 settings when there are already buttons on the machine to vary spin speed, temperature, and degree of soiling of the load.
Just another thing to go wrong. Definitely too technical for its own good.
The time to ask questions, particularly about appliance functionality, what is important for you, is at the buying stage, too late now. In the end you will get used to it and by the time you have to get a replacement things will have moved on again.
