If you are based in northern France, then why not come along to the Tour de finance event in Caen?

The day starts at 9.30 with a welcome coffee before the start of the morning seminars.

There will be a number of seminars, taking place throughout the morning and each one will be hosted by an expert guest speaker. All of the subjects covered will be relevant to expats and will include topics such as property letting and holiday rentals, pensions, tax and currency transfers, plus of course, healthcare and general financial advice.

The organisers are providing a free buffet lunch and over lunch you will be able to chat to the guest speakers. This is the ideal opportunity to ask any specific questions that might not have been covered during the morning. The buffet will also be a nice way to meet other expats living in and around the region and as the event is scheduled to finish around 2.30, you will have the rest of the afternoon free to explore Caen.

For most people, Caen is inextricably linked with the events of WW2 and the Normandy landings. The venue for the Tour de Finance event is only twenty minutes from the D-Day landing beaches and the Mémorial de la Paix - the peace memorial and museum which is well worth a visit. It’s also the perfect time of year to visit the beaches themselves. Keen gardeners might also like to visit the Parc de la Colline aux Oiseaux. This is a vast park close to the peace memorial. It covers 17 hectares and has numerous different garden areas within it

There’s also plenty to see in Caen itself. Caen suffered horribly during WW2 and as a result, is not your typical ‘pretty’ French town but for all that, there is some impressive architecture. The Château Ducal is quite spectacular and is one of the largest fortified installations in Europe. The two abbeys, the Abbaye aux Dames and the Abbaye aux Hommes (now the town hall or l’Hôtel de Ville ) are well worth seeing and guided tours are available for both.

The event is open to everyone, entirely free of charge and is a wonderful opportunity to get free expert advice on a wide range of subjects and visit Caen.
