Well you do to a certain extent and I agree and am more than happy with the service, but talking with humans has not been my experience. For instance their systems do not allow them to call me by anything but my first name even though the person who is supposed to be my human connection is called Becky by all and sundry when her name is Rebecca and she said at the outset that it would be David from then on. Not a big deal for me but it is irritating as that has been my name since at the very least 9 months before I was born.
Even the UK taxman calls me David.
One of the joys of CA Britline is (what I think of as) their professionalism.
None of this Christian name nonsense: it’s always Mr —-.

well I talk with a charming young man called Sam, who I think kicked off with Ms coleridge but it’s Kate now and that’s the way it is nowadays. In past times you didnt call someone by their first name until you’d slept with them, now it appears to be the other way round!! Tadah! My new name for the president elect of USA is Trusk.
I have a CA Britline account, and have happily used Wise for amounts up to 12000€ and I am using Key Currency for a 200000€ transfer for a house purchase.
I’ve used Wise for large amounts - €20k and it arrives in seconds
Is this with Torfex? I would prefer her, and her supervisor who was in the original discussion, to call me Mr. At least that would be polite, but to persistantly call someone by the name that you know is not their usual name is very rude in my book.
It is not a massive thing, the main thing is that they give me good rates, are apparently trustworthy and react with lightning speed to my requests, I can put up with the rest, but false mateyness is insulting.
Can you change, the order, of forenames, by deed poll or something?
Same here, I use TOR FX, great service and lower fees than the high fees (percentage difference in exchange rate) charged by my UK bank.

I would offer you a better rate and fees than your UK bank would!

We should if everything goes to plan complete on our house sale in a week. We want to exchange funds and deposit them in a Britline account asap - before Trump or another factor can upset the current rates. I know British banks have a higher level of protection for house sale proceeds. I’m wondering if I need to split the cash when we move it to France.
Any recommendations please for where to put the money until we have found a house to buy in France.

In a compte à terme with the CIC bank maybe? Obviously a 1-year term would be too long for you as you might find a place quickly and need access to the cash.
But last October when my “term account” matured, the new one was only for 6 months. So maybe if you explained your situation to your conseiller, they could offer you a similar short-term deal.
Just checked and the actual name of the account is Tempo à Préavis. I’m getting 3.5% interest for the 6 months.
First of all put the maximum allowed in a livret A and an LDD Solidaire (every bank offers these). They are both tax free. Livret + with Fortuneo, an online bank, is offering 4% for the first 4 months. You can withdraw any time.

So between a couple could that mean 4 accounts that could be taxfree Rachman?

For safety’s sake, don’t deposit more than €100,000 per person with one bank, as, if it should go bust, the European Deposit Protection Scheme only covers you for that amount.
