How can I transfer films on my PC onto my ipad 2... Have tried without success anyone any ideas.
I suspect it has to be done via Itunes maybe...

Glad to hear you got it all working. I used it for my little break away, and it is great for my very long commutes. Helps the hours pass by between reading Novels and Magazines.

Hi Elaine, if you are looking to view films in standed encapsulation formats like avi and mkv there is a great app called cinexplayer - written by some french guys i think.
Basically install the app on your iPad, and then select the apps section in Itunes with the iPad attached, and you will see the add button next to this app. Click on add and you can browse to where your files are and load them, voila.
I use this all the time for TV series and films I have ripped from bought DVD's so that I can watch them on the go.
The app also has a great in bulit tutorial, which will explain in more detail how to get everything set up.
