Transport of french furniture to UK

I would like to know if anyone knows about exportng ,on a small scale, van loads, of french furniture to the UK…
Do I need a permit or can I just load up my van and go without declaring at customs?

Bit of an oxymoron there, but unless its personal belongings as part of relocation I’d think its best to speak to uk customs

Yes, badly worded.
By van loads I mean one van loaded with furniture .

Welcome to SF Timothy!

I would think you are going to need paperwork and most likely pay VAT and maybe import duty - pre-Brexit it would not have mattered but nowadays it does.

Even if you are moving your own household belongings when relocating you have to have an inventory and declare them to customs.

However it sounds like you are talking about a business operation in which case you will definitely need to declare the goods and pay VAT.

You are correct, this is a business venture, transporting old french furniture to UK.
I kind of guessed Id need papers etc.
Part of my retirement plan. After living and working in France aince the early 90s, I want to keep relatively busy .
I see from your bio that you h0pe to retire to France, I thouroughly recommend it, given the state of the UK today.
