Travel insurance for British living in France?

Thanks for the info, but is it full coverage such as medical bills, hospitalisation and rapatriation? Or just ¨assistance¨? Which would mean that they offer you an instant loan to help you.

My 'Premier' Visa card from La Banque Postale provides the full coverage for the things you mention, plus coverage for things like lost luggage, flight delays, and being unable to travel through sudden illness or injury. The coverage is for up to 155,000 Euros per person and covers each family member who travels on tickets bought with the card even if the card holder is not travelling themself. No doubt each bank / credit card company has different levels of coverage, and different cards from the same issuer also have different coverage, so it is necessary to read all the fine print in order to make a proper comparison, and to verify that the coverage meets the specific needs of an individual.

Another alternative is to speak to the insurance agent who does your house insurance. Sometimes it is possible to obtain a 'volume discount' if more than one type of insurance is taken out with the same company / agent.

Thankyou everyone for your responses....they will be very useful.
