Travel insurance france to uk

Hi Does anyone know if the European Health care card still works after Brexit? I am going to England for two weeks this July 2022. If not perhaps someone can tell me where I get cheap insurance for illness and accidents. My insurance company AXA only covers accidents but not treatment related to illness. To complicate things I have Bipolar. Does anyone know if I need special insurance. Not that I am likely to do anything strange!

Which country issued your EHIC?

You can get your CEAM card free (and a temporary paper attestation) from your Ameli account

Yes the European health card still works, but in France it is called CEAM, not EHIC. Look at yours it will have a date of validity on it as they have to be renewed periodically.

Hi Stella
I got it from my Amelie site in France
Thanks

Ah, I was wondering why EHIC would give you cause for concern in UK…
(It’s the French CEAM which you have I reckon … )

Asking for advice.
Over the next few months my wife and I either togrther or seperately will have the need to travel to the Uk to see newly arrived grandchild and expected grandchild next year.
I have my CEAM card and my wife her EHIC (S1).
With these cards I presume we are both covered for health while in the UK.
My concern is more towards being covered for repatriation should the need arise and for loss/theft of belongings.
I will contact our insurers to confirm the extent of coverage on our car while in the UK.
Any advice welcome.
Cheers
John

Just to add that I know Google is my friend, or so I am told but any personal experience from my friends on SF are infinitely better.

Must confess I never used to worry about things like repatriation… but I would certainly ensure that we did have that cover nowadays.
Re luggage/breakdown etc… we did check with Car Insurance company and decided their cover was sufficient for our needs.
We also decided that we had nothing of any great value…
mind you, passport/tickets etc were kept in a secure wallet stapled to my body ( )

Makes interesting reading… tells you what to check and what to look out for…

and I’ve no doubt @fabien can offer good advice too…

As far as jewels etc… I never wear or take anything of great emotional value… other than my wedding ring which is, of course, priceless.
