Trees on Boundary line

Hi,

Has anyone on here ever been in dispute or taken to court for cutting down a tree that you thought was on your land but it turns out it could have been on the boarder between two plots?
Civil article 670 circa 1894!

What did you do with the wood and why was it cut down?
Does this reference give any guidance?

The other person wanted half of it, until he saw the devis, then he wanted half of the money!
We honestly thought it was on our land, it was an oak tree that over 20 years ago (before we bought the property) had been stuck by lightening and 3 years ago without any warning two boughs fell weighing 3-4 tonnes each, missing my uncle by about 3 metre’s
