I’m surprised some of you are upset. I would have thought you would have welcomed a US that is going to be protectionist since it means it will be looking inwards and not sticking its nose in the affairs of half the countries in the world. Just a thought.
I’m not surprised at the result. I have always thought the Democratic campaign was appalling.
Trump is a vile person who should be nowhere near the levers of power. Sadly his VP is as vile, so even if the obnoxious man child is struck down by bad health the world will still be under the influence of a deranged administration.
I remember talking to friends that morning and one saying that all we need now is for Trump to become president!
We are where we are😒
Looking on the bright side, the world didnt stop turning during his first presidency and he cannot be reelected in 4 years time unless he adopts Putin’s rules😱
With the caveat that the “result” is based on projections rather than fully declared votes it does rather look as though the US has voted for the end of Western democracy.
And if my some mathematical miracle Harris pulls it out of the hat (this time I honestly doubt it) Trump will cry foul and things will get very ugly.
I agree, but that surely doesn’t mean you or I approve of the HUGE mistake that the voters of the USA have just made? A person so unfit for office that I’m struggling to describe my revulsion.
Remember it was a Republican president that invaded Iraq, which has caused immeasurable damage to the Middle East and beyond. I’m sure both parties when in office have indulged in regime change antics, and behind the scenes will continue to do so.
Behind Trump there are a lot of very nasty people with agendas.
While I think Biden has done a dreadful job on Afghanistan, Ukraine and the Middle East I don’t have any hope that Trump will do any better. Putin will be happy, Taiwan will be edgy, the fascists in Isreal will be happy as will the fascists in Europe. So, I son’t see this as heralding a period of World peace and stability, rather the opposite.
He was disorganised first time around and had some smart and sensible people around him to rein him in. This time he has a playbook and will only appoint the “faithful” to execute it. He is in a position to do a lot of damage domestically and abroad.
I see Orban and Netanyahu are first to send Trump congratulations. I suspect that Kim Jong Un and Putin are just putting the finishing touches to theirs.
I don’t think it is a mistake. The result shows how many voters are hugely critical of the previous administration’s policies and Harris as potential president.
