I am planning to move to Europe on a work visa and currently trying to decide between Germany and France. I would really appreciate advice from people who have real experience living or working in either country.
My main questions are:
Which country is better for lower cost of living and better savings potential?
In your experience, is it easier to find a job and employer sponsorship in Germany or France?
How difficult is it for foreigners to secure a job there without already being in the country?
Any tips on the best platforms or methods to find employers who offer visa sponsorship?
I am mainly looking for a place where i can manage expenses easily and save some income, while also having a realistic chance of finding a job as a foreigner. Any honest advice, personal experiences, or guidance would be really appreciated.
If I could ask, which country are you in at the moment and what field do you work in? Maybe it’s possible to be transferred by your current employer?
The obvious question is how is your German and French? If one is at a much higher standard than the other that might steer you in a particular direction.

Is there something in particular that caused the sudden change of heart? I don’t mean to pry, of course, but five days ago you said you had no plans to move.
Hi, I live in both, what are your skills and qualifications and what level of French and German do you have? Do you have a particular area of expertise?
If you don’t have a specific skill we need you’re unlikely to be recruited from abroad, and if you don’t have a language level of say C1 you will find it hard to function comfortably in most work environments, and social life won’t be easy.
You can get student type jobs in Germany fairly easily but that won’t enable you to save because rent even in a WG and compulsory insurance etc are expensive. It’s not easy finding a job in France either.
Without good language skills the chances of being employed in France will be extremely low if any over the native applications and French qualifications are usually required anyway. Nowhere is cheap regarding the cost of living these days. The days of rocking up here and asking for a job have long gone I am afraid.
One way to move to France with ease is to be a world class rugby player.
The very large technician who sorted our muddy tap water used to play for La Rochelle until he strained a tendon and then was invited to join the water company.
He came from a distant island half way round the world and spoke little French, but perfect English, which from our point of view was a godsend, since we don’t have the vocabulary for all of this in English, let alone French.
I am not from California. My sister lives there she studied there and is now working. I do not want to go to the US because it is a powerful country and it is involved in many wars, which makes me feel uneasy. I have liked France and Germany since childhood.
i scored 78.33% in my intermediate. I plan to continue my studies there because I am not able to study properly here due to the high cost of living caused by the current situation. We have 2 acres of land here where we do farming.
