Depending on model it might just require that it is connected to the UK VPN when it is first introduced to the network.
Ah! You’re about to drag me out to cyber-sea, where I will be buffeted by waves of incomprehension…
A VPN presupposes a router upstream of the TV? You can’t just instal a VPN on a TV, can you?
I’ve just been reading about using a router with dd-wrt or, in the case of the router I bought to do this trick, a Linksys with Tomato [a variant of dd-wrt] pre-installed, upstream of the TV so that a VPN running on it is permanently connected to a UK server - or summat.
My depth of ignorance about TV is profound. I haven’t had TV since plain vanilla Freeview via a Humax some 6-7 years ago. Now I am faced with signing up to an ISP here in FR which offers me boxes of all sorts which I have no idea if I need or even want.
What I do know is I want Freesat as I have a monster 135cm dish [slight overkill for mid Calvados] and the Humax 1100S
Yes and no in that order.
Yes, that should work.
The problem is that although I have looked at the guide to setting up this router with a VPN I don’t understand it. I will have to get someone with ‘the knowledge’ to do it.

Is it the choice between a box provided by an ISP or a sat box such as the Humax?
Details on setting up the VPN should be given by whichever company you choose to go with.
E.g. ExpressVPN set up instructions here
And what of this? The ISP offers all seem to include some sort of box. The difference being grade of output, all of which - HDR, DolbyVision, Alexa etc are part of the specs of the TVs now, anyway.
In other words, they are duplicating what the TV is capable of anyway, aren’t they?
