U.S. Stocks and Dividends

Hi Everyone,

I know this is very specific and it might be a bit difficult to get a proper answer, but I’m thinking about investing in U.S. Stocks and was wondering if anyone knows about the tax implications here in France. I don’t need to declare capital gains in the US since I’m not a US resident but I couldn’t find any info online on how France handles foreign capital gains.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Are you thinking that Capital Gains earned in another country are exempt from French Taxation ???

Not at all, I don’t know where you got that idea from!

As stated in my last message I’d just like to know “how France handles foreign capital gains.”

A reasonable question, on my part…since you were talking about US stuff…

France takes ALL income into account no matter where it is from…you have to declare every last little cent…:upside_down_face:

Thus Capital Gains, from no matter where, will be subject to Tax and CSG…

Look at the government site: particulier/revenus-de-capitaux-mobiliers-et-plus-values-mobilieres

or Google …
