Hi. I will be driving through France in July in a family car with a 2.0m long trailer.
The car and trailer are both from the uk.
Do I need to display speed signs on my trailer? Are there any special speed limits when towing
Thanks for any help
For a 500 kg trailer and maximum gross weight of car and trailer of 3.5t the autoroute limit is 110kph. I dont think a sticker is required, but it wouldn’t hurt.
Others will talk about “speeds”…
I just add the reminder: don’t forget to display a UK sticker on the back of the car (and possibly the trailer) as GB is no longer correct ( )
The car AND trailer definitely require either a sticker or “euro style” plates with Union flag and UK at the left hand end.
I assume that applies to my micro-caravan as well. Do you know about speed limits on other roads?
No, it’s why I keep getting flashed🙄.
I can’t remember if your micro is 500 or 750 ptac. I think the 750 kg plated trailers are limited to 100 kph, but I’m having in Athens airport now so I’d likely get it wrong
It’s 500 so should be fine! Are you on your way home or still exploring? Don’t go on any solo hikes will you
If the PTRA is less than 3500kg the speed limit when towing is the same as solo vehicles other than on autoroutes and dual carriageways when 110 km/h applies
If the PTAC exceeds 3500kg the speed limits when towing ANY trailer is 80 km/h on RNs and 90 km/h on motorways and d/c.
Edit: these are plated weights not actual weights.
Just got here, long day travelling but chilling with a by the pool. Going to get a quad bike tomorrow for the exploring
Sounds brilliant! Have fun
May I just gently point out that there is no such thing as a quad bike, Mark?
Sorry, just one of my grrrr hangups.

quadricycle = quad bike
An interesting take, but etymologically Quadricycle = four wheels, bicycle = two wheels.
I know what you mean - but language evolves, everyone knows what a “quad bike” is, even if it’s not strictly correct from an etymological point of view.
There are some battles one can’t win
Just had to go back in time to see what I was talking about (Greece/Antiparos last summer )
What’s insects got to do with it?
@ChrisMann Is that Jeremy Vine? I have a long memory, he took Jimmy Young’s job after an ageist sacking, never have forgiven him.
That would be entomology
No I’ve no idea who he is, I grabbed him off Google Images… not J Vine but might be Jacob Rees-Mordor.
In a previous life the insectarium was also known as the buggery. When a scientist went to do some work there they were described as having gone to buggery.
