UK* - GB, NI, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Gibraltar
I recently made a request for an extension to when an application could be started for UK* & EU Licences.
Yesterday I had confirmation from CERT-EPE (the department that processes exchanges) that anyone who holds a UK* or EU licence can start the application to exchange within 12 months of the expiry date of your licence, those with photocards it’s the 4b date.
So, if your licence or card expires on 14 November 2025 you can start the exchange 15 November 2024.
Please start your application as soon as you are eligible.
Remember France Titres (formerly ANTS) are only the application platform, they make no decisions on your exchange and cannot influence on how fast your application is processed.
Don’t worry you won’t be put at any disadvantage. I asked for the time to be extended as some are not coming through within 6 months and it just gives you a bit more wiggle room, it doesn’t mean it will take 12 months. The majority are actually being processed within 5 months, to at least get the attestation to drive whilst the French licence is being produced. There are however some that are taking longer.
Are you a member of my group, if you are then follow Guide 2, B1, Next Stage Procedures.
btw does amyone have a link to start the application process I could save for the future or is it something that keeps changing so best to ask nearer the time?
Looking at the ANTS info via that link, I see they want French translations of the national licence and certificate of entitlement:
• la traduction (par un traducteur agréé) de l’attestation des droits à conduire si elle n’est pas écrite en français
• la traduction (par un traducteur agréé) du permis de conduire s’il n’est pas écrit en français
For some reason, I thought that translations of UK licences and certificates of entitlement were NOT required. Pretty sure I heard that but my information is probably out of date.
Does anyone know for sure what the situation is now?
I’m also wondering what to do if one has an Irish passport (so no French residence permit), a UK licence and a UK passport.
Presumably I start the process as an EU national, uploading a copy of my Irish passport. And then later provide a copy of my UK passport to show that I was lawfully in the UK at the time when the UK licence was issued? Don’t think I still have my old UK passport from 1988 when I passed my test in the UK!
My fault I gave you the wrong link but I have to deal with this new extra info as it’s not correct.
He needs:
Utility bill in named person less than 6 months old.

ID - Irish passport first and UK passport 2nd (you can upload two pages so this fits), in personal details you will put Irish as first nationality and UK as 2nd.
You need the letter to renounce the poids lourdes, I gave you that the other day, this is uploaded in the 7 additional documents section 5.0 on ANTS.
Utility bill
Licence front and back in colour, ensure 1cm around edge of card.
Passport - Irish, do you also have a UK one like your husband, if yes the same applies on what to submit.
Birth cert
Date you arrived in France
185 days normal residence - Ameli attestation de droits or Impot statement
DVLA check code - uploaded in Section 5.0 extra section 7 additional documents.
ephoto code.
Yes, I have a UK passport as well as the Irish one.
The UK licence was issued by DVA in Northern Ireland and I think they will email me a copy of the certificate of entitlement. Rather than a check code, as DVLA does.
Yes if your UK licence was issued by DVANI then yes you get the certificate of entitlement direct from them.
Generally it’s only Paris that require translations of the driving rights document, I don’t know/can’t remember where you are, so submit without, if they want one they’ll ask.
