Beginning of food restrictions tomorrow?

I hate to say it - but at least some degree of rationing by the supermarkets would seem to be sensible at this point. I can’t imagine Johnson, famed for not liking to have to make “difficult” decisions will provide much direction though.

Tryng to imagine some feasible and acceptable regime overwhelms my faculties. Perhaps limiting single-item purchases to six or eight and ‘multipacks’ (like loo rolls) to two per customer?

The in store logistics at the checkout would be delicate, to say the least…

Any realistic suggestions?

Max 3 of any item, simples.

Including unpackaged items, like bananas, onions or mince pies? Many older customers can’t afford or manage multipacks.

I’m equally concerned that people from the UK think it is OK to visit France for Christmas. One person I know arrived minutes before the deadline. Well no more can come now for at least 48 hours let’s hope it is longer.

They put in place limits on purchases with the first wave in February. Supermarkets have experience of this, and sure people bypass by going back into shops several times. But it does help stop shelf stripping, especially by people who then sell on the produce for a higher price.

I have spoken to Eurotunnel, they are giving a full refund on request, or option to transfer to an alternate date.

as of 23.00 last night they will not be able to fly in and if they come by Eurotunnel, they will not be able to return for a lest for the next 48 hours

Now Russia but they can just *#%÷ off and thats fine with me.

At least they weren’t russian into any travel ban :yum:

Just for clarification you can go from France to the UK via Eurotunnel or Eurostar and there are still flights into the UK from various EU countries.

London and the South East are in tier 4 lockdown though, so not sure what you would do about onward travel once you got there.

Onward travel isn’t a problem as trains etc are still running as normal and you are allowed to pass through a Tier 4 area to get to your destination.

Quite. It is just people trying to escape the leper-colony who are having trouble.

Would a leper want to be put in same group as Brexit Brits. Doubt it.

You’ve got your wish!

Harsh :kissing_heart:

That comment is a bit beyond the pale Véro (even if true).

Yes I hoped I wasn’t the only one who doesn’t like to hear their home country referred to as a leper colony
