UK Freesat box or Internet Protocol TV or Virtual Private Network

I keep reading that UK television will be unavailable in the south of France after August of this year, because of moving to a different satellite, which will be more focused on the UK. I'm just about to buy new equipment for my new home and wonder which route I should take. I was told that if going down the satellite route (there is a satellite for French TV already on the roof of the apartment) I would need to buy a British Freesat box and re-angle the satellite dish, but should I bother? I have bought a Smart TV, which seemed like a good idea, as it says on the box that it has WiFi etc. already installed - however, my sister, who is more technical than me, says I should have bought a British Smart TV. I might be able to cancel it if someone can tell me if this is correct, as they're not delivering it until Saturday 6th July. Or, would a French or British Smart TV work if I subscribe to UKTVdirect.com (IPTV FOR YOU); my-expat-network.co.uk or TV-from-home.com (in Belgium). Any advice on this would be gratefully received, while I'm still at the planning stage - though as I'm writing this whilst in London for a few days and there is absolutely nothing on TV I want to watch, I don't know why I'm bothering.
