UK state pensions - declarable but not taxable which box to fill in on the French Tax Return?

I have had a speed read/translate through the whole 8 pages and it now seems that they are just counting on the half year of 2024 after Fran died, because I had to make 2 declarations that year.

There is no mention of the '23 declaration for '24 except for the period from June 3rd to the end of December. I will have to translate the relevant sections carefully but it now seems that they might only be asking for €466 instead of the original demand of €1,666. If this is the case I will bite their fingers off but I can’t see how they have got in such a pickle. They no longer seem to be accusing me of not declaring, simply of not declaring in the right place, but they can’t seem to make up their minds as to which that right place is.

Unless I have totally misunderstood, and I don’t think I have, I am impressed with my ability to translate rapidly (almost at normal reading speed) from the written page when I have such difficulty these days of keeping up with the spoken word.

Next job is getting it into written English and compare my 2 interpretations. They have given me 30 days from the date of receipt by AR, but no signature was asked of me it just arrived in the normal way in the letterbox. So I have already lost some time. Letter dated 27th of Feb, date of arrival 6th of March. No wonder they can’t get their act together.

With Eddie’s help I got a printed version of all 9 pages in English, checked it through and made a few changes then constructed a reply offering to pay the new total of € 466 as long as they weren’t going to pursue me for the rest of the € 1666.

For the reply, so that I could let my train of thought have free rein, I wrote it all down in English then translated it into French. Then went through it reading in French and rectified a few mistakes. There were a few howlers, the best of them was, where I wrote that I had made a mistake in using 1AM No. 2042 instead of No. 2047, I saw the glorious result as 1hr in the morning no 2042

Once I had got it all done correctly I translated it back to French. :innocent:

She’ll get it tomorrow morning and I will see the result later in the week, hopefully to my advantage.

Well not to my advantage, she has come straight back at me to tell me that the 9 page letter I received and was deceived by, is followed by another with 7 pages dealing with the other 1 and a half years.

I’ve spotted one flaw though, they have included Fran’s income. I know I shouldn’t have done but now that will have to be put right.
