Donāt know but I even miskeyed a number I was dialling out this morning. It popped up with a spam number warning the instant Iād dialled the last digit and thus it was.
So it blocks incoming (you have some choices you can set up) but now we know, it also warns instantaneously if you appear to be dialling a spam number.
Itās never got it wrong yet. You can look in app to see what itās deflected.
Give that man who wrote it a medal for services for the Quality of Life in France. I gave 5 euros and likely to give again next year.
I have downloaded the mp and indeed it has a huge database of dodgy numbers so I guess that is how it works - by continually adding to its database.
Will see how it works!

Is there a trick to downloading the app . my gmail address doesnāt seem to like it.
I downloaded it from the (Apple) App Store.
I see itās also available on the Android equivalent, Play.
Thatās the easiest way to do it.
I have very few apps on my phone, but Saracroche is a must-have, and I also donated a symbolic euro to thank its developer 
Iāve sent him more than that, itās worth it to me not to have calls interrupting my day.

Saracroche - I -think I got it from French Playstore. Iām not trendy like @Roger_Lapin so I donāt have i-things so no idea how Apple peeps get it.

Many thanks for the tip about Saracroche. Iāve just checked my calls log and I see it blocked a call yesterday.
A friend has noticed a huge drop in the number of cold calls since the new legislation came in. Unfortunately itās been offset by a rise in the number of spear phishing emails.
I was singing the praises of Saracroche too but just this week private caller has been ringing again and I know its not genuine as it only rings three times then stops. Anyone else getting these again after putting the AP on their phone as its bl**dy annoying??
I have blocktel. Problem is that I cannot find the blocktel app! Does it matter if I have installed Saracroche as well?
āprivate callerā is someone breaking the rulesā¦ but with no number as such, my phone wonāt block it

Bloctel has finished, well according to the news last night if I understood it correctly.
Same as me then. I did get curious some months back and answered it in case it was an old friend trying to get in touch but nothing there and it rang off on the third time every call after which came in groups of three one after the other almost daily.
I canāt remember now if itās āprivate numberā or āprivate callerā which comes up on the screen when the phone ringsā¦ but (whichever) if they donāt leave a messageā¦ tough!
bloctel is being decommissioned because of the theory that cold calls will stop now the legislation has come in. Theyāve lost their funding I think.
Memo to self : must make sure all the scammers in other countries are also informed of the legislation

Could you answer it, and try (1) heavy breathing (or similar - I leave it to your imagination what, or (2) blast them with a whistle (very effective, apparently) or (3) just silence, in which case their machine will think youāre a machine and ring off).

Do not speak, and above all, do not answer āyesā if someone says, āHello, is this Ms. xxx?ā The worst scammers will record your āyesā and use it as proof of your consent

I had 18 such calls and the recording machine recorded each call. At the end of one call, a female voice said āGood byeā. I think it is a system to find out when you answer your phone? So that scammers can call you at that time.
