Great advice re Gaviscon. AFAIR I’ve never taken it and likely never will.
More importantly…I hope you are up and running on full throttle asap David.

The french remedy is a little neat Ricard for digestive or gastric problems. Think I would take that over something like Gaviscon any day which they advertise like taking a glass of milk to soothe the problem, just shows how misleading advertising really is.

Well done and thank you to @toryroo and @Rachel05 for your care and action.

Re gaviscon, I had a gallstone episode Aug 2023, and the hospital kept dosing me despite actually finding a gallstone on ultrasound. They also did lots of heart monitoring, and seemed disappointed that it wasn’t that.

So if you have a pain that moves around back, front, side, feel bloated or fat unexpectedly and things smell a bit different, it might be a gallstone.

It definitely must be a French thing - my cardio surgeon said exactly this and that a slug of Ricard will not harm one as much as - I think he said - the magnesium in Gaviscon

I am sure and hope David is being pampered well in icu, but to pick up on the point that he had a pain for ten days and did nowt - exactly as I did - was naughty and dare I say it -he will maybe agree - is a ‘man’ thing.

Other words from my surgeon - whatever pain you might have, ask a professional immediately. Far better to use a doctor’s time than not and end up with open heart surgery or death. His reasoning is that it is cheaper to insert a stent now than go through full surgery later.

I can guarantee that there are at least two people who will take this advice: David et moi

The Aluminium wont do you much good either :open_mouth:

I agree. My OH suffered pins and needles in his right arm for weeks before our son insisted he went to urgences where they found he had an 80% blocked carotid artery in his neck and put him in hospital for a few days to be monitored. He had put it down to carrying heavy piles of stone slates up onto a roof he was working on and using heavy machinery. The upshot was that three weeks later he suffered a massive stroke and never recovered and the appointment with the surgeon had been for the following week in Brest. One of our close neighbours suffered the same fate but was saved by being operated on much quicker - a lot of it obviously down to diet in both men both eating a lot of charcuteries and other high fat stuff.

Incorrect, no evidence of that being causal, 1970’s rubbish still doing the rounds. Smoking and sugar far more damaging.

Re the heartburn feeling he apparently looked online and read that drinking warm water can help and he tried it and it did so he thought it was that!

He is being released.

Did David have any signs of clammy feelings or cold sweats? Anyone staying with David?

Not sure about the first question and no to the second but he is being picked up by neighbours / friends.

I think it’s the excess salt in processed meat products that is the medical concern these days, rather than the fat.

But “everything in moderation”, as my Grandma used to say.

Not from what I have read or listened to, a university did a very large study and found 4-6grms of salt produced the best health outcomes, its an essential electrolite. The salt thing seems to be another red herring that wont go away.

Yes it is, but it’s excess salt that can be a problem. Many people take in a lot more than that from processed foods and ready meals.

Anyway, enough on this topic, we want to hear how David’s doing!!!

Oh yes, I remember that one now! Warm water and Gaviscon - plus ‘I used to drive road trains in North Australia - I don’t need doctors’ :joy:
