Hello everyone. Many of you I am sure will remember SFN member Shirley Morgan. Earlier this year, Shirley survived a burst brain aneurysm (and subsequent brain surgery). She had separated from her husband shortly before that, and was without much support where she lived in Herault. Some family members suggested she moved near to them, and last month, she finalised her move to the Mayenne. Four days later she was involved in a car crash, and is now living 2 kms outside the nearest village, without landline or internet. She also needs to register with the nearest doctor, and is feeling very isolated and lonely. The family members seem to have faded away.
I spoke to her this evening (she has a mobile) and she is quite distressed. She has agreed to me posting this plea for help. If there's anyone near to her who could help in any way, it would be very much appreciated. She lives near 53160 St Pierre sur Orthe. If you or anyone you know can help, please reply and I will give you her mobile number.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Shirley,
Wow, go SFN!!! Just reading this thread, and like you am in awe at the rallying the members are doing. It is heart warming to see concern and genuine care existing in a world of busyness.
I want to wish you all the best with the insurance, health practitioners and indeed your own recovery. You are in my thoughts this evening as I read this thread, and albeit a bit late, offer you any support over the holidays and beyond. I am a qualified coach, but am also available just as a friendly face, voice, or letter. Please keep me in mind if you need to reach out, send me a PM and we can hook up by skype or phone.
Warm regards, Elaine
Hope the insurers are good with you and hope you have a lovely Christmas despite everything, positive vibes, healing thoughts x
Hi Shirley! You have internet???? how are you how is the car? What are you doing for Christmas? XXXXX
OH no! She has had such a rotten time!!! I too, like Jakie, am in 24 so too far off to actually do anything useful, but please send me her mobile number, we were in touch by phone before, and I'll ring.Blimey what a year she has had.
Jackie, where are you??? We are near Montpon.
Hi Shirley...will do....great to see you are connected again.....phew....bet that helps! xxx
I'm a new member and just finding my way about SFN , I would just like to say a Friendly Hello to Shirley (and to you all) I hope you are feeling much better and glad to hear you are connected up to the internet at last . It's so nice to see people getting organised to help out. I'm in Aisne 02 so all i can really do is offer a friendly chat , here's hoping things start to get a lot better for you soon :)
Big hugs, my dear. Question mark might be above the "comma"? :-)
Talk soon. xxxxxxxxx
Shirley it is so good to read from you that everything is moving along, phone, Internet, new friends and the nurse and soon the Doctor will call on you and that you will have close by contacts. You are one powerful lady, and your plights have moved us all, we have send good vibes and prayers your way. Take care.
Welcome back into the on-line world Shirley.
We are so many miles away from you that we could not help. but we have been thinking of you.
Hopefully, things will look up again for you now.
There you are my strong one. I see you. It is a pleasure to have helped & perhaps provided the hug & reassurance you needed at this difficult time in your life. Onwards & upwards. You are not alone. Don't you love the internet!
Hello Tot and welcome to SFN. Thank you for your kind words and offer of support.
Hello everyone, I am a new SFN member and read the posting on Shirley's situation. I am in dept.82 so am unable to offer practical help but I am a good listener and any support I can give ,I would be very happy to do so. I was also touched by the responses of other SFN members. I feel very privelged to belong to such a wonderful organisation.
My sentiments exactly, very heartwarming to know there are so many caring people, not only with kind words but hands on help.
Hi Marie-Antoinette. Thanks for your post. Yes, SFN members are great - some members have also contacted me privately to offer support. Hopefully, we'll have Shirley on line soon and some more of the pieces will fall into place - without internet, she couldn't even look up the name of the local doctor or nurse - so fingers crossed we get that organised this weekend.
I am so glad many have been able to help, talk, and cheer Shirley and in general help her along, it is so sad to have so many terrible things happen so fast when one is in bad health and in a new area. SFN members are a like a wonderful family, warm and friendly.
Thank you Sam. I hope all is well with you now. Maybe we should start a brain aneurysm (or however it's spelt) group? :-)
Hello everyone. Thank you all for your replies, suggestions, advice and virtual sympathy re Shirley's plight. Special thanks to Heather Ward who has been an absolute star. I spoke to Shirley earlier this evening - she is overwhelmed with the texts and messages she has received, and is trying to reply to everyone.
She has asked me to thank everyone on her behalf, and hopes very soon to be up and running with internet, and is looking forward to posting here herself. THANK YOU!
Special thanks also to James and Catharine for creating SFN - SFN members are brilliant and this is a great network!
