Vent d’Autan

Is it just me getting older and less tolerant, but has anyone else found Le Vent this year more obnoxious than ever?

It really got inside my head on Wednesday, that I drove into Toulouse for lunch, only to find it blowing harder in the Capitole😀

Here in the south we have the Mistral knocking old folks about like skittles. Yesterday we had gusts of 95kph and there’s more to come

Out dog walking there are villagers who tell me their dogs are too afraid to go out

Aaahh, but the light is truly glorious! :sun_with_face:

I agree, this year seems worse. Our neighbour says it always comes in 3 day periods. We seem to be in a nine day one at the moment.

It’s much the same in 47. Living on a SE facing slope, we get it full-on. Which is a shame as everything was planned to cope with the more usual tempêtes coming from the west

Same here. It’s been like this for nearly a week now. Predicted gusts yesterday of 90 kph but probably stronger. Electricity went down twice yesterday first in the morning and again in the evening. Cables down that took hours to fix. Today, by contrast is sunny and calm but it’ll be back to wind rain and storms from this afternoon for at least another week it seems.

Tramontine down here straight off the Canigou which is snow covered still so chilly with the strong wind. Again locals say if it blows for three days in a row it will blow for several in total. We have at least had a bit of rain over the past week but the rivers are still showing dry rocks along the bottom with a thread running along the edges.

I have never fathomed where the Tramontine and Autan wind edges are. I am sure that I must be between the two.

The Tramontine is reputed to send one mad, yes? Maybe it is happening to me! But hey, I am not complaining - a barrage of wind here and there is FAR more preferable than having unannounced barrages of air or drone strikes…

Definitely!

Think it’s’s wiped out any possibility of having apricots in the garden this summer- our trees have been stripped of blossom.

… Covers a multitude of scenes [sic]

I wish people would identify where it is they’re referring to. Not the very street address but at least something a bit more specific than ‘14’ or ‘50’ or ‘XX’ ‘YY’. Otherwise these regional climate comments are too vague to be useful.

For example, these two charts are hundreds of kms apart, one directly south of the other.

I think most SF regular readers have at least a rough idea of @Susannah’s region - far south (and east) of both of us

I’ve not the foggiest - esp today as we have fog in the Vire valley.

And

Both of who?

Clearly an assumption amongst some old lags that their whereabout are common knowledge.

Well, I’ve mentioned where I live approximately at least 50 times on the forum . I counted them using the search function. I think @DrMarkH has probably done the same even more than I have. Do keep up captain
