I received my visa yesterday
Great news!
Hi GillyBilly, hope this message reaches you well. I would really value your advise and help. I came across this article while searching the internet for anything about the French Long Stay visa for one year, as I have applied for this visa but I am confused as I was only issues a 6 month visa in my passport. I am from the UK and went to the TLS contact center in London, however they were unable to clarify anything about the visa I have been granted. I had applied for the year but not sure if I needed to apply for more than a year to get a year to start with? I also am not sure should I extend my 6 month one in Tahiti when I arrive,. I am wondering what I can do as my plan is to stay in French Polynesia for travels for at least a year if not more. Any help would be so much appreciated thank you
Is it a VLS-T or a VLS-TS? It should be to the left of the QR code
I’m afraid I have no experience of that problem. I applied for a 12 month VLS-TS visiteur visa and got 12 months in my passport.
I also used the TLS Contact centre in London.
I imagine you made an error in your application. The process is complicated and you have to be very careful in making your application.
Some points I picked up in the process:
-
The Contact Centre just do the processing and checking: it’s the consulate/embassy which issues the visa. You’d need to speak to them, therefore.
-
You cannot apply for a French visa from French territory. So you’ll have to leave at the end (or before the end of) your visa’s validity.
It would be worthwhile speaking to the embassy to ask if they can help.
As a matter of interest, did you provide proof (when applying for your vica) of your means and a year’s health insurance cover?
If you applied for a VLS-T visa it is an unofficial policy of the London centre only to grant 6 month visas.
You can only renew outside France.
If your plans are vague it could also have caused concern about overstaying.
