Vote Reform?

I think you’re right: he’s too Melenchon (the French equivalent of Marmite  ).

IMO, Farage and Reform’s time has been and gone.

Labour with Burnham as leader have a better chance in 2029 to stay in power and by forging closer ties to the EU and using their massive majority better than they have so far could over the next three years convince voters that they not just “Tory lite”.

I can’t think of any of the current Reform MPs who would be a leader people would want to follow. Are voters likely to take to Jenrick?

I would tend to agree, it’s very much a personality driven party and it’s based on a single personality. If he goes then I suspect Reform will go the way if UKIP.

I think ’ personality’ , is stretching it a bit.

I think there’s also a very strong anything but Farage factor as well.

The Times have really got it in for Farage. I can’t find a non-paywalled article but they’ve dug up details of money going from George Cottrell to him. Cottrell was convicted of wire fraud in the US and naturally is seeking a pardon.

Really? We might not like it but he’s certainly the most colourful of the current party leaders and he knows how to use his act to trigger his followers.

Farage has accused so many people of corruption that it hurts even more when those accusations come back and bite you on the bum.

First rule of propaganda and misdirection - accuse your opponent of that which you are doing.

Putin and Trump are world leaders in that too…

He is ofcourse claiming, like Trump, that essentially there’s a witch hunt and he’s been unfairly treated.

As Harriet Harman commented, if he just said ’ there is a due process and I will cooperate fully’ , he might get away with it. But rubbishing the committee could lead to them treating him more harshly.

Though I suspect if he were suspended and it triggered a bi- election he would be voted in with a bigger majority. He would then be even more obnoxious…if that’s possible.

Another rule of populism, make sure that you’re seen as the victim.

DARVO all the way (isn’t that the acronym?)

Indeed, the acronym had slipped my mind.

He also said he’s going to sue the Times/Sunday Times which may have made them keen to publish more about Posh George.

As someone pointed out in the comments there, pre-court disclosure could be rather tricky for Nige and he could back out like his orange buddy has in the past.

Has he not made a few threats to sue recently? Ben Habib springs to mind and I don’t think that’s gone anywhere.
