There’s an article in The Connexion which talks about this.
Seems that the ruling was originally thought to be in favour of Local & European voting… but clarified to ONLY be for European Parliament.
Not much point. In commenting to me as there will be serious opposition to applying this more widely. The French authorities will, I imagine, be content to remain silent and accept that if an individual wants to go to a tribunal to fight for the same right they can do so.
How many people will be as determined as this woman ?
I think I will have a casual chat with Madam Maire, I think voting locally and in European elections makes much more sense than casting a vote for some constituency in the UK which I haven’t visited in 30 years
Unless Madame le Maire has influence with a sénateur she won’t have much of an insight.
Be interested to hear how you get on… although, as I said, Local elections are not included in the recent “permission”… it’s only for European elections that the lady has won the right to vote. Perhaps your Maire will have heard something on the grapevine… ???
got to be worth a chat, whatever…
