Never saw it either. I love python humour, but the last couple of films didn’t have the magic.

Some were less than successful but Life of Brian and Holy Grail are up there with The Producers as far as I’m concerned.

Absolutely. Python peaked with LoB (though Holy Grail is good in its own way). Definitely a “must see” film.

If by “the last couple” you mean “Live at the Hollywood Bowl” and “The Meaning of Life” - I’d agree, but most people wouldn’t think of the Hollywood Bowl and would think you meant “Life of Brian” and “Meaning of LIfe”.
MOL and LOB are exactly what I had in mind. Seen clips, and they put me off sitting through the whole thing.
Pythons humour adapted over time to the comedy landscape around them, and for my tastes lost a lot of what was funny.
I will do when I pass that way again. Not really in the habit of taking pics of tagged walls but will definitely do so next time. As for anti Brit sentiment… because we speak what could be classified as decent French and never speak English when out … local shopkeepers and assistants are surprised that we can have a proper conversation then complain to us about ‘your compatriots’ who they say are rude and arrogant, expecting the French to speak English in their home country. Even one of ourFrench neighbours came across when two ladies in the queue at a till thought he was Brit because of his t shirt and bitched about the Brits in the area. He warned us later about the anti Brit feelings in the area
OK but there are two distinct things that you are complaining about.
One is the type of Brit that you describe - certainly they do exist and that has been discussed on the forum many times. I suspect most SF members will be of the same mind on the subject but some manage to have an entirely English social circle and probably also a set of ex pat artisans on whom they call for services. The same is (or was) true in Spain, probably to an even greater degree.
But just because someone chooses not to integrate socially does not mean that they have not properly registered for taxes and social charges, Again no-one is saying people are not in France illegally but it is much harder post Brexit to hide between the French and English systems as some folk used to do.
As for anti-British feelings, I must admit that I haven’t come across anything overt - as noted above there is as likely to be ill feeling towards Parisians (or the Dutch) as there is against Brits in rural France.
Some parts of Brittany did have more of a problem in the past - but then the same is true of Wales

Quite different films though - which is why I was slightly puzzled when you lumped them together. I would be happy to recommend Life of Brian to anyone whether a Python fan or not - though some might still be offended at the narrative supposedly being disrespectful of Christ as famously occurred with Malcolm Muggeridge and the Bishop of Southwark.
Meaning of Life has as its “mission statement” the desire to offend - I’m pretty sure I would only recommend it to staunch Python fans with strong stomachs. I’m not even 100% sure the team thought it was funny.
Doesn’t every comedian do that (adapt, or try to)?
Many comedians fail, of course, and stop being funny as they age - Cleese himself is a prime example I’m afraid (as is Eddie/Suzy Izzard, but I digress).
Python was always a bit hit and miss though, even on TV.
That is an interesting comment … but Iam not complaining just making an observation. Indeed it is the French in their own country who are complaining.
It is a shame that expats feel the need not to integrate socially nor use the local French artisans. But fair do, although it does not help a case for integration. Of which they have often accused incomers in the UK
I have found the anti Paris thing amusing. Much like Brits think of londonrrsNever come across any complaints regarding the Dutch who seem to master the French almost at will. It is just anti Brit. At least in this area
