I’ve been clearing out the potager and flower beds and thinking about the new seed catalogues. I’ve decided to grow more perennials and like the assortment of Verbascums. The best roses I’ve grown were from Meilland Richardier (tried Delbard and David Austen roses) and fancy buying a Paul McCartney rose. Didn’t grow courgettes this year and won’t next either. Beetroot grow well but just how many beetroot can you eat? I like the white flowering runner beans and have grown White Lady for a few years. Tried Moonlight this year and they were very good. Birds aren’t so attracted to the white flowers and they set better in warmer (than the UK) weather. I tried okra and will grow more next year, and not in the polytunnel as they do better outside. Maybe just two melon plants instead of the four this year!! Favourite early potato was Juliet and Roosters did well as a maincrop.
