What are your top smartphone apps?

Interesting, must try Waze. Although I have built in satnav in my Renault - I was looking for a mobile satnav for hire cars etc. I recently drove to Nuremberg from Lyon and tried a week's free trial of Sygic. Was very impressed. Costs around 39 euro. Cheaper than buying a standalone TomTom satnav, though. You can download the maps with Sygic - and so, works off line. Handy when walking around London etc. Think I will give Waze a whirl, now!

Waze. Is a fantastic sat-nav app. As it works in real time and there are thousands of Waze users, if a speed trap, roadworks, crash etc is noticed update the map on the go. I find it invaluable now. The map can also be edited if the roads have changed!

Yes, I also made the switch to android this year. I downloaded many free apps, but these are the ones I find most useful:

Kindle, google hangouts (instead of skype), Viber (free calls to any Viber user in wifi range), Whats.app (free texts and mms), NeoReader (reads barcodes), Battery widget (displays how much % battery you have left), Ebay and Paypal, plus Paypal calculator - very useful!

Tune in Radio tuned to ROK Radio - the Goons, Beyond our Ken, Navy Lark, even Life with the Lyons.... all day and all night! Radio 4 + Radio 4 Extra....
Skype, of course - excellent for making calls to the family when in the UK using wi-fi.

The trainline for checking UK rail connections.... ho hum, should I be in France, everything seems to be based on the UK :-(

Re - the question about a decent phone with the perks (which does not cost the iEarth). I am really chuffed with my Google Nexus 4 (bought to replace my 3 year old iPhone 4) - they have knocked around 100 euro of them - on the Google Play Store. But, be aware that the Google Nexus 5 is just around the corner - but will certainly cost more. The Google Nexus phone is unblocked - I have switched from Orange to Free - and am saving myself a fortune. I am feeling totally liberated - no more iPhone and no more Orange! Definitely a Fandroid now!

ToiletFinder.

Ladies - this one is a real goodie!

Totally off topic - why are you not surprised- but a few days ago the puppy ate my Blackberry. Any recommendations for the best place (I'm trawling eBay) to get a cheap, decent phone with the 'perks' I've got used to such as camera, email access etc etc, the list goes on.

Well I'll say nothing but wish to encourage people to contribute to this post. Why? Well yesterday evening OH and I arrived home with a new phone each, both samsungs and looking remarkably like the two above. So, in my case I wish to hear what is out there before I start 'playing'. Naturally, since I have one like that on the right that is exactly the one I want to learn about.
