What did you wish you’d brought or left behind

TSS TSS Vegemite pfff each to each I suppose - Amazon will flog you a kilo of marmite for a fairly moderate sum.

Actually I find Vegemite’s not too bad, probably prefer it to genuine Marmite! (In the absence of a supermarket own brand alternative)

Yes, I have seen Tate and Lyle’s tins but they are expensive and to be honest, again, I prefer supermarket own brands as cheaper and in plastic (yes, shock, horror!) which doesn’t rust.

It comes in plastic bottles, the bigger size not those mini ones.

Agree, French all the way for exterior. At least for stains and topcoat.

But if you’re shocked by emulsion, just try and find some decent wood primer here. Bring it from the UK if you need it I think. But topcoat French eg V3 /3V3 for weather.

The other outdoor exception if you’re a fan of Hammerite, bring it. Choice is poor and availability not so great in France. Regularly around £75 for what you’d pay £45-£50 for in UK.

Well done on seeing the light

Marmite? Don’t they feed that to cows?

Much better! Where did you order it from?

Extremely reluctantly (we try very hard to avoid/limit using Amazon unless something is really unavailable locally) we had to get it from Amazon, €31,49 for 6 jars.

Grr thought you might say that! We’re the same! Mum’s coming in June so hopefully she can fit some in for me!!

Thanks for the reply.
We’re not actually living in France any more, sadly, so I wouldn’t be doing that. We already had that experience with a converted ambulance when we were living there, having it registered at my mother’s in England and taking it back to England every year for the MOT!
Good luck with the sale then. How far has the project got, by the way?

It kept going back to very nearly sq 1, because of repeated use as a removals van.

@toryroo you wanted to be alerted - Hammerite 2.5L tins 30% off till 23rd May at Leroy Merlin. This takes it down to the UK price around £45. As it loads on the site look for the manufacturer-sponsored 7 euros extra back on top of that, that you can send off when you’ve got your receipt, So net 48 euros it doesn’t get better

Thanks Karen. Lidl had a new paint, their version of Hammerite so I’ve decided to try that. I’ve been pleased with their other paints so I have quite high hopes. Much less expensive, I think it was 8€ for 2.5 litres. Probably not as good bit for those savings worth a try. I’ll report back :grinning:

Still boycotting :ukraine:

@toryroo do let us know. I’ve had excellent experience with Lidl wood protecting paints but their garage door paint has not lasted at all. However at 4.79 for 750ml tin discounted this week, I am prepared to sand the patch that cracked and put some more on that part of it !

I have freesat Humax boxes, I bought in UK. I use a 1 meter dish in the garden. This covers 3 televisions in the house. I can record up to 3 programs at the same time. I have used Humax boxes for a number of years. Sky started to charge for cards for their boxes. Humax do not use cards.

I am very happy with the quality of the viewing. I get all UK regions.

Thanks very much @hairbear
