What effects do you see from the change in the country's and regions economy?

I have noticed a huge change in how well the local council deals with rubbish in the streets. When my husband and I bought in 2005, we were so proud of the clean streets and the fact that someone was seen daily, dealing with the rubbish problem. Now the same rubbish is found in the hedgerows and verges for what seems like weeks. I haven't seen the council workers for months. And I can't blame it all on the local Macdonalds!
