What have you bought recently that you've absolutely loved

But what type of mud?, there’s lots of different soil types, it could get messy:thinking:

I’m pretty sure that oxygen-free mud is the stuff to get. It offers a much nicer tonal balance.

That’s what I like about your posts, @Corona : they’re always so grounded.

According to that link, it’s volcanic mud. If you live near Le Puy de Dome, you’re sorted. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yesterday we bought two clematis from Lidl @ 3.49€ each. They were in superb condition so we bought Hagley Hybrid

and Alpina

Now we have a nice collection which include Princess Diana, Ville de Lyon, Jackmanii, Mayleen, Tangutica and a very pale blue fading to white one that I don’t know the real name of.

Have you got any recommendations for another purchase - I’m easily tempted!

If you like clematis there’s a fab double clematis called dancing dorien, and for covering an eyesore, should you have one, any Montana is good, only flowers once but with such wonderful profusion. I love banksia, lady banks is a fantastic profuse flowerer. Mine is just getting into its stride but it covers a huge old pergola.

I’m a little confused vero - is the picture that of a rose. If it is Lady Banks, then it is a stunner and one that will definitely be going on our ‘to get’ list.

Not being too big headed, but we don’t have any eyesores except our wood shed where we’ve got a laurel hedge on one side, pyracantha on the other and a climbing rose and pink wisteria on the third side. (the 4th are the doors). We do have Rose - Golden Showers - which flowers and flowers from now until around Christmas time. It’s a stunner and if anyone wants a good climber, then go for that. Also the thornless rose Zephirine Drouhin is a prolific flowerer.

Clematis Mayleen is a montana type and covers one of the pergolas all through April and May. That, mixed with the wisteria are a good cover when we sit and have our elevenses.

Yes that’s it, I took a closeup because it’s mainly buds at the moment and doesn’t look as stunning as it will in about a week. I love Zephirine Drouhin.

I know it’s a strange things to say about this spray, (that I’ve absolutely loved it) but yesterday we had several ants nests around the house and in the store room and just one quick squirt of this got rid of the lot of them. I’ve never used anything so long lasting - it really is good.

In the house ok, but outside? I did use to kill a lot of creatures that I thought were a threat in some way - wire worms, slugs, snails but now I put them in the green waste bin.

Stuart had an infestation inside and outside of his workshop and just by the centre heat pump (which of course is outside) there was a line of them going into the store room. Today we do not have ONE ant where yesterday there were thousands.

:ant: :cockroach:

I’m assuming “workshop” and “central heat pump” aren’t euphemisms

I recently bought one of these wheelbarrows on steroids. They are currently available for €150 in our local Carrefour. (Check out some you tube clips on them)

Certainly easier than a single wheeled wheelbarrow
