I have just welded some bits and pieces together and now I just unclip the handles, slot in my new gizmo and it hiches to my tractor mower and operates as a trailer
I bought a Domino jointer. OH’s comments are not for publication.
In the 1960’s, I was a mechanician the Royal Navy. I was serving in a minesweeper based in Bahrain. I was always in a rock and roll band during all my many years at sea. Anyway, the band I was in at that time was called “ The Gulf Set” and we played many times for Sheikh Kalifa, who loved the Beatles and Stones music we played. So much so that he provided our guitars and several SANSUI amplifiers for our backline. In those days, distortion was taboo, so those amps were super clean. I often wonder what happened to them and the guitars when we flew home after a fourteen month commission. By the way, we all got gold Omega Seamaster watches from the Sheikh. Mine is still going.
Yes. A black Les Paul Custom. I had one stolen at a gig in the 1970’s, and I always wanted another one. Les Paul used to call them “ Tuxedo Guitars” as you could play them at posh gigs, when you were dressed in a tuxedo. Anyway, they have been re-issued with the same T Top unpotted pickups. Lower output, but one hell of a sound due to the Alnico 3 magnets. I won’t be playing it on gigs however, as I have always been Kramer maniac! My 1986 Barettas do the hard yards!
Sheikh Rattle and Roll
Ha ha! Nice one! He really did though, as he had 18 wives! XxxxAlso, ten racing camels!
One for the girls vero ! Thanks ![]()
A very unsexy Oregon “Lightning Load” line feed head for my Stihl FS 55 line trimmer.
No winding line around spools, just feed 5m of line in and wind it in.
I’ve just bought an Apple 4k tv box. Being a refurb by Apple it’s immaculate. It has provided a better smart platform for my Sony tv. At some point I’ll replace the tv with a projector driven by the device.
I acquired an original pickup quite some time ago, and was surprised at how nice it sounded for a late1970s Gibson pickup. It ended up in a Heritage H150 that just never sounded good, and did improve things although not enough to make me keep it.
I know what you mean. In the 1970’s, I was playing for a living around England and Scandinavia. I bought a brand new Gibson Norlin era Les Paul Custom ebony. My mate, in the same group, bought the same, but in sunburst. His was an absolute peach. Sustain for days. Mine was a dog! It had a dull finish, sounded awful, even with Di Marzios and other makes of pups. ( a new thing in the ‘70’s) It weighed over 12 lbs and did major damage to my neck. I eventually swapped it for one of the first wood necked Kramers, which were favourite at the time. (1980’s) I still play Kramers at my solo concerts. Barettas are hard to beat. Ask EVH! Rock on! Always interested in anything guitar!
I was a strat player in the 90s, having bought a new MIJ strat late in '89. In the 2000 finances permitted a Les Paul, so I went hunting - I’d tried a few before but was unimpressed. Machinehead at Hitchin had a used Studio and it was a really sweet toned guitar, light because they were chambered to allow cheaper woods, but they wanted £799 and that was almost the new price. I tried a few more and realised none of them were anything like that studio, but by that time it was sold. In the end that’s why I bought the Heritage sight unseen from a guy in the US, together with a used MIM strat for our son to learn on, and carried them back as hand luggage on a BA flight from Houston.
We still have the strat, but I traded the Heritage for a camera. It came with Seymour Duncan pickups and sounded lousy. Even the T top neck and a genuine PAF bridge couldn’t fix it.
I do have a ‘proper’ Les Paul, but it’s made in Japan by Tokai.
Apple 4ktv box has so much to watch , I doubt I will ever view everything .
Great story. I still play my Tokai Strat replica. A Goldstar sound from the late 70’s. Made from Paulownia wood. Very light. I love Tokais! The Love Rock was superb!
I was staggered to find a brand new “old stock” Canon 5d MkII on Rakuten for a criminally low price of just €303. Well I had to have it didn’t I.
Didn’t I? My excuse to my wife was that I’d just sent back a Sony a6700 that I absolutely hated after forking out almost €1100….seems to be a reusable strategy if you ask me….
