Well that went as expected. Got the Excel file with a list of all the posts but then got tied up with things I couldn’t be arsed with MS, Outlook etc. etc. demanding passwords not accepted saying they would send me a code but couldn’'t check emails.
If it was vital to life and limb I might have tried harder but when they started drivelling on about clouds I gave up.
All I know is that my first post was on the 16th of July in 2020 and the category was Animals and the Topic Wireless elec.
Make of that what you will.

Ah, you live in the happy world of Microdaft Weirdows. We Macaroons are blissfully ignorant of such travails.

I’m afraid my first post was rather dull, talking shop:
New user here, presently looking to buy a house in the Morvan.
My day job is working for a company that specialises in providing tools for those investigating infectious diseases. It is not unusual to see viruses jumping species across to man from animal hosts - some are well known like ebola, others much less so like mayaro or oropuchi viruses. While it is hard to be certain about this, it seems very likely that this was a ‘natural’ jump, rather than a lab leak - obviously I don’t know that to be the case. But if one were to engineer a bioweapon and release it deliberately then something much more effective than SARS Cov2 might have been picked, especially since if western governments had been a little more effective in their dealing with the situation then it might not have gone very far at all.
Trying to add something useful to the conversation.

AM, it’s probably your most informative post to date - but perhaps sadly downhill from thereon (
Though at least you can remember yours…
My first post was to enter this competition back in February 2012.
Survive France Network is offering three lucky members the chance to win a stunning book, The Complete Book of Corvette, courtesy of Eventageous PR Ltd.

The book is an exhaustive review of six generations of American high performance, from the first 6-cylinder 'Vette of 1953 through to today's fire-breathing, world-beating C6. The Complete Book of Corvette offers an in-depth look at the prototypes and experimental models, the anniversary and pace cars, and the specialty packages for street and competition driving that have made the Corvette a living automotive legend for more than half a century. With extensive details, specs, and photographic coverage, this book is the ultimate resource on America's sports car. Officially licensed with Chevrolet, it includes many never-before-published photographs from the carmaker's archives. If you are into classic American cars, this book is a must have! It is beautifully illustrated and jam packed with gorgeous images. A true sty…

I looked back and discovered that my first post was arguably not my most auspicious. However I soon came to value this site as a source of intetesting and helpful information and debate, populated by knowledgeable, intelligent people.
I was also surprised to see the amount of contributions I have made. Far less than many others but far more than I had thought.

Not for the rest of us - especially at the time, in the context of what we’d been going through.

I think I have some bad news for you, John. You might want to sit down first though.

I’m afraid mine was just about tax - and usually still is…
But it did seem to spawn some sort of pension encashment industry.
It was also my first post in my entire life to any forum.
Greetings! First post here. 25/2/2020.
Can one take single payment of the UK tax exempt 25% pension in UK and then subsequently take in France remaining complete lump sum at 7.5% rate?
Would welcome any responses from persons (or those who know about the topic) who have taken the 25% tax free lump sum from UK personal pensions under UK tax as UK tax resident without further drawdown (not invoking flexible drawdown) and then subsequently became tax resident in France and succesfully taking the remaining pension in a single lump sum taxed at 7.5%.

Good question! Which one was it?
I have no idea, can you pick it up from the thread above?
Just like @larkswood12 , my first post was about tax
Hello People
I’ve only just found this site so this is my first post (apart from the training ones)
The tone and advice seem to be kindly and helpful, which is a great relief as I’m feeling rather isolated at the moment.
I’ve been putting my head resolutely in the sand since the arrival of my tax return this year. I did one for my part-year last year with the help of the delightful departmental tax people but I need to get going with this one pretty pronto.
I found a post on another thread for last year linking to an annualised exchange rate from Insee to use but I couldn’t work my way round the website to find one for this year. Could some kind person help please?
Thank you so much
Dull, eh?

Not at all - polite, saying something nice about the site, explaining well what you need - couldn’t be better.
