When to use nouveau and neuf?

I’m sure there is a very simple explanation for this. I never really know when to use neuf and when to use nouveau.

Any help gratefully received.

What about nouvel, nouvelle and nouveaux?

You can think of it as neuf= never yet used, brand new.
Nouveau = unprecedented, if you like. New to you.
Il a une nouvelle moto. Elle est neuve? Non, d’occasion.

Propre comme un sou neuf - clean as a newly-minted coin.
Le nouvel an - we haven’t had it before.

Elle a un nouveau vélo. Le vélo, il est neuf.
