I’m looking to find a shop where I can see a range of showers in order to have my existing shower replaced in the next couple of days.
Why the rush? I have a guest staying who is a plumber and is willing to do the work for me at ‘mates rates’.
The shower I have is very small - about 70cm square and is not a pleasant experience to use. So I want to replace it with a larger one and ideally I’d like to look at some alternatives in a show room. I’m in the south end of Deux Sevres (Chef-Boutonne) and within a 40min drive of Leroy Merlin in Niort. I’m just wondering if there is anoth shop, perhaps a specialist bathroom outlet, within an hours drive of me?
I’d have thought any of the bricos to be suitable: Mr Bricolage, Bricomarché, Gedimat, all these have showers etc in their stores around Autun and therefore I assume across the country.
The other obvious place is Amazon, assuming the assortment available in France is like that in the UK. I’ve bought various bathroom fittings, taps etc from them and they’ve been up to the same quality I’d find in UK plumbers merchants.
I bought a 9mm thick glass panel back from UK, it being cheaper than the 6mm ones in ES where my flat was ‘para reformar’. Jose and Manu were fitting the shower panels. I was in another room. I heard an explosion, a crash and a yell.
Jose had bleeding cuts on his face. Manu was looking guilty and bewildered. He’d nipped up the grub screw in the clamp at the end of the rod from wall to outer edge of the panel without fitting the rubber pads that take the pressure of the screw. As soon as the screw touched the panel and was given a nip - BOOM! the panel exploded into 20 million pieces.
